Let's get to know each other.

Welcome to Enitewawek Cafe and Creative Space aka SUP Studio.  We are a Ethiopian-Kiwi couple, Yonas and Kim, using our gifts to serve the community.  Let us tell you a little bit about us..

We met in Addis in 2009, where Yonas was managing a hotel on Bole rd and Kim was a client.  When Yonas was escorting Kim to her room, in the elevator Kim looked at Yonas and spontaneously said to him "Konjo Habesha".  This means 'beautiful Ethiopian'.   Yonas was caught off-guard and didn't know how to respond, and so he didn't say or do anything..  and this was the beginning of our story..

Fast forward to Feb 2020, after 7.5yrs in New Zealand, we returned to Ethiopia with our son in tow, covid came one month after, we incubated with family for 7months in Sebeta (on the outskirts of Addis) and then decided it was now or never to start our dream.. in November Enitewawek in Olympia was born.

Civil war broke out at about the same time.  We encountered much loss and challenge and had no choice but to close our doors in Oct 2021, after only 11months of opening.  We were devastated.  Everyone around us evacuated the country and we were left alone and confused on the road ahead for ourselves and our beloved Ethiopia.

May 2022 we re-opened at another location - where you find us now, Bole Mega.  And so our story continues.. still getting to know each other and our community.

Next door you will find our creative space lovingly named SUP Studio which stands for Souls United in Power.   This is where magic happens!  Where people from all walks of life connect and express through dance, yoga, children's classes and so much more.

​

Look around and you will see a space practising sustainable eco-friendly practises and supporting everything local, from the artists we collaborate with, to the authors of the books we sell all the way to the local ingredients we use for our menu and merchants that we buy from.
